WEBCASTING
ANOTHER WAY TO REACH OUT
by Richard Phillips
Bringing together customers, fellow employees or the press for a special live event can build bridges and create opportunities in truly amazing ways. The energy and positive feelings that are generated simply can’t be beat. Of course the resources that are required to produce a big event can be substantial so it’s critical that you squeeze every last drop of value from your investment. Webcasting might be just the solution. It is a cost effective way to expand your audience, raise awareness and create interest in your live show.

What is Webcasting?

A webcast is a live video and audio internet broadcast that can be viewed in realtime by people almost anywhere in the world. And if you are already planning to professionally record your special event, the cost of adding live webcasting to the mix is surprisingly reasonable.

While webcasting your event it is also possible to simultaneously record a high–resolution copy of the video and audio so that the material can later be distributed via DVD, packaged as part of a Press Kit or made available as an internet download.

Webcasting certainly isn’t limited to “big event” type shows; there are many useful ways you or your clients can use webcasting to improve communications. Shareholder meetings, business meetings, seminars and workshops are all prime candidates for the greater clarity webcasting can provide.

Why Webcast?

You might be wondering if there is any point to webcasting an event when the objective is to have people attend in person. In many cases the answer is yes. The price of moving personnel from place to place has become very expensive. Many companies have understandably chosen to reduce costs by cutting back on business trips whenever possible. If you or one of your clients have customers, associates or fellow employees scattered around the globe, then you know how these cutbacks make it difficult to establish and strengthen those connections that make business possible. So why not include those who can’t attend your live event in person? Keep them in the fold by allowing them to join in on your show via an internet webcast.

From a strictly emotional perspective, there is nothing like watching an event and knowing that it is taking place at that very moment. A live webcast makes a viewer feel as much a part of the action as possible.

Training and Education are
Prime Targets for Webcasting

It isn’t necessary to limit your teaching and instructional efforts to those who reside in your immediate area. Why not expand the possible size of your classroom to people living and working anywhere. Webcast your seminar or workshop to a potentially huge audience all over the world. This makes it possible for you to increase your financial rewards without having to commit any additional time.

It's even possible for your remote students to interact with you in realtime by way of instant messaging text chat or even two–way audio and video. Also, you can webcast your class to a live internet audience, then later use the recorded audio and video for streaming internet feeds and DVD distribution. This is a great way to stretch every dollar of your investment to its fullest.

Viewer Convenience

Viewers can watch your live webcast from anywhere a high speed internet connection and computer can be found. And in most cases those who wish to see your live event or training session will already have the software they require. And if they don’t, they can quickly and conveniently download what they need for free.

Who’s Invited?

Your webcast “invitation list” is entirely in your hands. We can setup your webcast so that anyone can watch and listen or if you’d rather a webcast can be limited to those who register or provide a password. The control remains with you.

Broadening the scope of your message might be just the thing to take your efforts to the next level. If you are interested in learning how webcasting can help your bottom–line please give Smith Productions a call. We’ll help make the most of what you and your clients have to offer.
